The Screencast-O-Matic Chromebook application allows a user to make recordings of their Chromebook screen. In order to benefit from the full features of the Screencast-O-Matic video editor, one will need to transfer these files to a PC or Mac for use in the editor there. See a quick video on this topic.

There are many features available in the video editor under free plans, but unlocking a Deluxe plan gives you access to far more editing features.
How to Upload your Recordings to Mac/PC
Step 1: Upload Chromebook recordings to Screencast-O-Matic
You can view this video or this support article for instructions on how to properly upload your recordings from the Screencast-O-Matic Chromebook application to the Screencast-O-Matic website. Once uploaded, go to the Screencast-O-Matic website and login to your account.
Step 2: Find the Recording you Uploaded
Click on "My Videos" at the top right on the account page.
Step 3: Download the Recording
Find the recording in the list that you would like to modify in the video editor. Next, click on the chain link icon in the lower right in the list view of recording (see screenshot).
Next, click on "Download MP4" and save the file to your local machine.
Step 4: Open the Video Editor
At the top of the account page, click on "Open Video Editor". This will launch the video editor on your local machine.
Step 5: Import into the Video Editor
In the upper right of the video editor, click on "Import" to import your saved file. Locate the file on your machine using the file dialog, and submit to import the file into the Screencast-O-Matic video editor.
You're all done, you can now see the imported recording at the top of your list of recordings.
