In a few easy steps, here's how to use the overlay arrow feature in Screencast-O-Matic. Step 1: Choose the section of the video where you want your arrow to appear. You can slide these bars over the timeline to select the start and end point. Step 2: Click the "Tools" menu button and select "Overlay" and then the "Arrow" option OR you can press the "O" key and then the "A" key Step 3: Drag and resize the arrow to position it over your video. You can also fine-tune the position by holding down the Ctrl key on Windows or Command Key on Mac, then using the arrow keys to nudge the arrow around the video. Step 4: Use the style button to change the color of the arrow, thickness of the arrow or to add a shadow You can reuse style settings by clicking this button, which will show you a list of previous styles you used so you can easily switch back to a particular style combination. Step 5: If you wish to change the opacity of the arrow, you can do that here. Step 6: The overlay arrow will have a transition to fade in and out but you can edit the transition here and choose to fad, pop or have no transition. Step 7: Once you're finished with overlay arrow, and ready to see it in action, you can preview it by clicking the "Preview" button here. Step 8: Once you're ready to commit, press the OK button or the Enter key. After the overlay arrow is added to your video, a colored span will show on your timeline where the overlay was added. You can edit the overlay by clicking on this spot on the timeline, click this icon, and you will be brought back to the overlay controls. Or you can remove the overlay arrow by clicking this icon.
