Music Intro Screencast-O-Matic's green screen feature enables you to remove a background color from your video with ease. Green screen, also known as blue screen or chroma key, allows you to remove the background from your video and layer in another digital image or video. It gives the creative illusion of having a background you can interact with. There are two ways you can remove the background on Screencast-O-Matic. You can apply settings for color removal in either the screen recorder or video editor. Let's start with the screen recorder. You can easily check your green screen setup using the screen recorder. You can also choose to record your desktop which acts as your background. To get started, launch your recorder. In the recording menu, select either webcam or both. Click on the magic wand located on the upper right part of your webcam preview. An options menu will open. You can enable green screen by checking 'remove background.' The app will automatically guess which color to remove. You can adjust this later. The webcam will show a live preview of the removal. To adjust color removal, the color picker allows you to select the color you would like to remove from your webcam. You may choose any color of your background for removal. We recommend using a flat green background for best results. Click the dropper and place it on the live preview to remove color. Next you can adjust the tolerance by moving this slider. Tolerance allows you to modify your specific color settings to get the best effect. Once you are done with both color and tolerance, hit OK. It will bring you back to the recorder. Don't worry if these settings aren't perfect, you have another chance to adjust them in the video editor. Click Record to begin. Please note that your green screen background will show in live preview while recording. It will be removed in the actual video once recording has stopped. The other option to remove your background can be done in the Video Editor. It's a convenient way to import an image then have your webcam overlay it as a background. You can apply this effect to screen recordings, webcam recordings or imported videos. Open the video editor and select a video to edit. Click on either the 'Main Video' or webcam picture-in-picture window and you will notice that a settings menu will appear to the right of your video. Click on options in the menu. The Image Options menu will open. Place a checkmark next to 'Remove Color' and the app will automatically guess which color to remove. You can adjust the color to remove by clicking on the dropper. Place the dropper on the background color you want to remove. To adjust the tolerance, move the slider left or right. Once you have made your color and tolerance adjustments, click Done. Hit okay next to 'Modify Main Video' to remove it throughout your video. To add a background image or video to your video, head to the Tools menu. Click on Overlay then Image. Choose an Image from your computer. Once it is placed on your video, move the image to cover your Main Video. In the Image Menu, click on Layering. Drag the Image below 'Main Video' You will notice your webcam recording placed above your image. To add the image throughout your video, adjust the transitions by clicking on In and Out in the Image Menu. Once that is done, you can play to preview your video. There are many ways you can use a green screen background. You can record anywhere without ever having to move! Create share and experience video with Screencast-O-Matic!
